imac, iphoto resolution problem

We have a brand new imac. I am a new user and not familiar with the mac and just learning iphoto.

Had no problem downloading pictures from the camera to iphoto. Pictures look great on the imac.

The photos were taken on a Sony Cyber-shot at the 3 and 5 megapixel setting, quality setting at "fine".

I downloaded them to 2 online photo services to have them printed, one being Snapfish. On both sites, the pictures show up blurry and both sites give me the same message, that the pictures are at a resolution too low for cropping and/or quality printing.

The camera setting appears to be fine. I have always gotten clear digital prints from the drug store.

Is there a step I missed on the imac to set print image size for printing by an online photo service like Snapfish?

Why don't you use the iPhoto Cards?

You use Preview to change the size of image files, nothing in iPhoto to do that.
