IMac 27 2009 fell, runs but shuts down after awhile

My trusty iMac 27 2009 hit the floor after the table collapsed. The glass screen broke. The computer still runs, but after awhile it shuts down. I am guessing that the cooling system was affected. I have opened the Mac before to replace the hard drive so I am familiar with how to get to the inside of the Mac. Any ideas of what I should look for and is the problem repairable.

Hello and welcome.

Was the iMac powered on when it fell? Yes, it may be be a thermal issue it consistently powers off after a few minutes as the internal heat up.

It will be tough to troubleshoot without having hands on the iMac. That said, about the only thing you can try is to ensure that all of the connections are seated properly.
