I can't find data I lost in hard drive?

Hey guys,

I had a folder on my dock, and somehow it ended up in my trash and was permanently deleted by accident.
luckily, I also have a hard drive that was recently saved, and should have the folder...but where would I find it, if the folder was saved in the dock? I know in the past when I tried to search for the folder in spotlight search it never showed up...any help is much appreciated!

The Icon in the Dock is just a shortcut/alias to the origin Folder. That folder will be where is was originally.
Most likely places are: Home, Documents.

Don't forget the Finder Search on every Finder window, there are more search filtering available under the (+) plus button once the search is started.
