I just received two HP OMEN 27k monitors that are marketed as 4k up to 144hz. I plugged them in with the hdmi cables they came with, and they work but the one that's plugged into the hdmi port on the Mac Studio Max is locked at up to 60hz and the one that's using a thunderbolt adapter is also locked to 60hz.
I'm using :
Mac Studio Max
HP OMEN 27k 144hz, 4k monitors
Insignia NS-PA3CHD thunderbolt to hdmi adapter
hdmi cords that came with the monitors
Both monitors, in the display settings, are at 1920x1080p and I only get options for 30hz, 50hz, and 60hz.
No idea what's going on here, but If someone could enlighten me hopefully I won't have to stare at 60hz monitors for the rest of time.
