How to turn my gmail contacts into iCloud contacts?

Hello! My icloud account uses a gmail address ( (e-mail address removed) for example). I made all my contacts on my phone, thinking they would back up to my icloud. When I tried to synch my icloud on my computer to my phone's contacts, I found out I couldn't because my phone saved the contacts under gmail, not icloud. Is there any way I can transfer those over, or do I need to make each individual one again for icloud? Thanks!
