How to transfer an iphoto library to another Mac?

Numpty question I know ....... My previous Mac is an aging G4 Powermac running OSX Tiger. Have just got hold of a black Macbook running Snow Leopard. Need/want to transfer/copy of my stored photos in iphoto on the earlier machine - to the new Macbook. If is helps I have available an external firewire hard drive.

Just how exactly should I go about doing this? :confused::)

Hello, just drag your iPhoto library which is located in your Pictures folder to the external hard drive and drag the iPhoto library from the external drive to the Pictures folder on your Macbook and you should be in business.
