How to recover lost data from USB Flash Drive on Mac?

I formatted my USB Flash Drive without taking backup and lost some important documents. I am not sure if I can recover my documents from flash drive. Is it possible using third party data recovery application?

What program did you use to format the flash drive? Was it Disk Utility? If it was, did you actually Erase and then Format the drive? If you did, it will just about be impossible to get back anything that was there before you erased and formatted it. There are Data Recovery services available, but they are expensive. But even they might not be able to get anything back.
