How to make downloads go straight to desktop?

Hey I just had one quick question.

I'm working on a black macbook from 3 years ago I believe and recently upgraded to snow leopard.

Since upgrading, my downloads (documents mainly) do not go straight to my desktop like they used to with Tiger.

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me do this, I know it sounds like an easy thing to figure out but I can't!

Go to Safari-Preferences-General-Save downloaded files to: and change to desktop by clicking arrows-other-Desktop-Select.
