How to know the path of application installed ?

How to know the path of application installed ?
I tried whereis command but does't yeild any result

Hello and welcome.

-Which version of OS X?
-Which application?
-Is it in the Applications folder?

Applications normally have the path: Macintosh HD/Applications/Application Name.

My way of tracking its location would be:
use Spotlight search find the app by looking for "___.app"
then scroll down and click Show all in Finder.
left click on the app in the search results and click "Show in Enclosing Folder".
