How to format USB 2.0 flash drive, so it will allow me to copy 4.9 GB file on it?

i want to copy 4.9GB file into USB 2.0 flash drive, size 8GB.
It doesn't allow me.
I called to the support of I digital team and they said that i shall format the flash drive first, so it will allow me to copy files bigger tehn 2GB.
They said that you can not do it on Mac though
What shall i do?
i also have Parallels, so i can use Windows if Mac does not have its own solution.
Looking forward to get a help with this issue.

I've used this procedure on the two usb flash drives that I have and it works like a charm.
