Hi Mac Help

I have owned my 8 GB iPhone 4 for about almost a year and a half. I got my phone after the 4S was released and they were selling 8 GB iPhones, probably to get rid of stock.

So I've pretty much run out of space. Because of this, I can't upgrade my phone to iOS 6.1.3, which in turn makes it impossible to update any apps. I'm a pretty heavy user- I use my phone for music, camera, and apps. I have been deleting all the stuff I can, and it's just not enough. I have 29 3rd party apps (nearly all of which I use regularly), 88 songs (which could probably be trimmed down a bit), and a grand total of 1,176 photos plus a 171 photo album.

This is my main problem. How do I back up photos to my mac and get them off my phone.
And of course, the bain of my existence-
Photo library.
How the heck do I get these pictures off my phone? I think I have iPhoto 2010.

Please help. If you have any other space- freeing tips it would be greatly appreciated.
