I have a MacPro (late 2013) and having some display problems. Currently I have a Odyssey G5 display connected via HDMI, and it works fine. I also have a BenQ display connected to one of the Thunderbolt (2) slots, and it works fine. I am now trying to connect a third display (LG?) that has only HDMI connector. I tried using an Foinnex mini DisplayPort adapter/cable plugged into another Thunderbolt(2) slot on the computer. Supposedly, this adapter will work with Thunderbolt (2). It does not work. Would appreciate any suggestions, and if you are in the Berkeley/Oakland CA area would provide some great photographic art (georgekaplanimages.com) or cash in exchange for help. Thanks!!!!

Hi George,

From what I understand the Thunderbolt 2 ports on the trash can Mac Pro only supports thunderbolt video if you are using more than a single display. Most adaptors that are stated as thunderbolt 2 video adaptors are actually Mini display port adaptors. To use a 3rd display I believe that you need to find a Thunderbolt 2 dock that separates the video to the input that you need. Something like the Belkin Thunderbolt 2 Express Dock (https://www.belkin.com/my/support-article?articleNum=115425)

Thanks for your help. I will check out the Belkin dock. The odd this is that for 4-5 years my setup worked with three displays , the third was a 27” Apple display. That display stopped working and apparently is too expensive to repair. Any further thoughts? Thanks loads.

Hi George,

The 27" Apple display was a Thunderbolt Display. Thats why you had no issues with it.

You may want to look on eBay for another Apple 27" Thunderbolt Display.
