Help using Terminal

Ok I have been given data that I need to input into Terminal and am confused on how to do it. So it is asking me to Paste the text between the following 127.0.0.1 localhost and 255.255.255.255 broadcasthost. Do not have a clue how I am meant to do this. Could someone please explain to me in laymen terms how to do it.

I can't see in your text what you actually need to type?

wouldn't do anything

I know this would not do anything but it is asking me to type my command in between these points. But what I want to know is how to find these points.

The commands get typed at the prompt there is no point. If you could explain what you are trying to do, what is ask you to type a command, what is the command?
