Help to clean the HD

Hi all.
I'm not unfamiliar with computers but this time I go bananas.
Been trying to free space on the harddrive, but whatever I do it seems like the free space is decreasing. Now I look at the with and wished it was a windows machine. .
Is there someone out there that have some time to do a remote session and show and help me with this?
I have been looking around here and got some help from the threads. But with little luck.

I posted about a similar problem 18 months ago. Link to post. I found that wiping the disk and doing a clean install solved the problem.

Hi.
Yes. Wiping the disk should solve the problem. But that is not an option.
It's not my computer and she is too afraid to do that. And I as a windows nerd is even more afraid.

If you do a Time Machine backup, then wipe HD and reinstall OS, then use migration assistant to put everything back it’s pretty painless.

Which Mac do you have, and what OS are you using?

Also what size is the drive on the Mac?
