Help Mac OSX 10.6.7 Running Slow

Hi Im new to mac so please be patient with me although I would appreciate any help.

My Mac is running painfully slow - ive tried to do some digging and I think all my VM is used up - On the get info page it shows i have a capacity of 499.76 GB and i have 284.59 GB available (which is a lot right?!)

I took a screen shot of the termal top status if this help.

Any help would be great in lamens!!!

VM is Virtual Memory that is memory that doesn't exist, so its very hard to use it up.

Firstly lets find out what you're running. Computer? CPU? RAM? and Harddrive Unused?
