HELP lost password still logged in

Please could you help me asap, i am now logged in my own mac. Tried to chance the password but now either the old nor the new one is functioning. What to do now?

Need some more information:

1. What exact Mac model do you have?

2. What exact Mac OS are you running?

3. Are you making backups to an external device?, If (hopefully) you are, what software are you using for that, and did you do a backup before attempting to change the password?

4. Have you ever done any disk cleanup/maintenance/repairs, from a software perspective?

Thanks, I've just generated so complicated new password that it was not easy to write it correctly. But I was successful finally this morning and everything is okay now. Thank you anyway!

Glad you got it resolved. Hopefully, though, you are 1) performing disk cleanup/maintenance/repairs, and 2) making backups to an external device.
