Help! dl-ing from dvd?

I had my senior recital a few years ago and the IT department, when converting my video, "locked" it... I want to download it and chop it into songs but when I click on it there's a little negative sign in the corner and I can't see any files in the folder. It was burned onto a dvd. Help?

Is there a video on the disc that plays okay on your Mac? You could try dragging & dropping it from the disc window onto your desktop ... it may only be locked while on the disc?

If it on DVD it locked because it not writable. If the DVD plays in a normal DVD player then it's been encoded into VOBs nothing edits VOBs you have to convert them to another format. I use Handbrake to do this.
