I’ve always discouraged my clients from getting HP printers and scanners, mainly because of their proprietary software/drivers. See if you are able to remove/purge the HP apps and drivers from your system and then check if you can install the printer drivers supplied by macOS. As a precaution you might want to download the latest HP installer/drivers, just in case.
Even better yet, after removing the HP software, do a fresh installation of macOS. It could include updated HP drivers as well. As always, keep your system backups up-to-date.
