I have a 2TB hard drive with OS 10.6.8 that I use most of the time, and a 1TB drive with OS 10.11.2 that I use occasionally. When I'm using the 1TB, the 2TB doesn't show up on my dock, and I can't use some of my apps, like Pages. I think they both used to show up on my dock. They both show up in Disk Utility. Is there a way I can access both of them at any time?

Click on Finder next to the Apple logo, select Preferences > General and check Hard Disks. All of your connected hard drives and partitions should now show up on your desktop.

Does the 2 TB drive show up on the desktop when you are running OS 10.11.2 from the 1 TB drive? Similarly, does the 1 TB show up on the desktop when you are running OS 10.6.8 from the 2 TB drive?

By the way, there is a later version of El Capitan, OS 10.11.3, that came out about 3 weeks ago. You can get the OS 10.11.3 Combo Updater from here:

Thanks Honestone. Because of the strange things that happened after I loaded 10.11.2, I decided to go back to 10.8. Sometime later I'll go back and try El Capitan again.

You're welcome. But, I think you mean 10.6.8, right?

No, I don't mess with the 10.6.8. I still use Photoshop CS3, and that's the latest system it will run on.
For the programs that need the later system, I had the 10.8.5 on that HD, and that's the one I upgraded to 10.11.2, then went back to 10.8.5. Clear as mud, right?

Yeah, clear as mud! In your very first sentence in your first post, you stare "I have a 2TB hard drive with OS 10.6.8 that I use most of the time". Seems the OS on that 2TB drive is ?10.8.5?.

I keep 10.6.8 and Photoshop on the 2TB because of all my photos.
