Is there any way possible (in Mavericks) to go back to same folder rather than desktop when selecting multiple photos, say for Powerpoint, from a folder? Older systems did this. Very frustrating.

Hello and welcome.

I am a little confused about what you are asking. If you could expand a little on the what you are trying to do, we'd be happy to help out.

Thanks,

Thanks for the response. On older Mac systems, you could always go back to the folder you had just left. My best example is loading photos into Powerpoint. I load a photo ("picture") onto a Powerpoint slide, then I want to load another (I'm making up a slide show) from the same folder. But when I click on "Load Picture" again, it takes me to the Desktop rather than back into that original folder. So I have to go through several additional, and to me bothersome, steps to get back to my photo folder to load another. I'm happy to elaborate further if necessary, as this has been bugging me ever since I did a system upgrade some time ago.

I should add that it's not just loading into Powerpoint. I am never taken back to the same folder I was working in for some project.

OK...I think I understand.

In PowerPoint, you are using the Insert > Picture command. Once you import/insert a picture, you go back to insert another and the dialog reverts back to Desktop, instead of the folder you had just navigated to...is that correct?

-What version of OS X?
-What version of Microsoft Office/PowerPoint?

OK...glad we're on the same page. ;)

I only have Microsoft Office 2008 here to test with, but I have 2011 in another location. I can test that on Yosemite tomorrow. I will see if I can find a Mac still on Mavericks to test as well.

I get the same issue you are experiencing on PowerPoint 12.3.6 on OS X 10.10.5. I imported a picture, then went to import another and it defaulted to the Documents folder. However, it works as you want in the same version of PowerPoint in OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8. That leads me to believe that the change happened sometime between Snow Leopard and Mavericks.

When was the last time you remember it working?

I bet that may be where the change occurred, as I stated previously. I did test in on a Mavericks Mac and I go the same behavior as you are getting. If so, I don;t know of a workaround, but I will keep looking.

Thank you so much, Cory. I would really appreciate it, as this change has made activities that were always easy and convenient ever so much less so. Shame on you, Apple!
