Font Names

Does anyone know if it is possible to read a font file and get the correct font name from it?

I am writing a script to search the hard drive for various font files and list them.

Hi Mark,

without scripting a quick way is to use FontExplorer, it's free !

The problem with scripting it, is finding the font names...FontBook is scriptable.

It all depends on your needs...If FontExplorer doesn't do what you want let us know and we'' see what we can do...

Hi Ric,

Yes, I've been through most apps but what I really need is to search the hard disk, find all the fonts and compile a text file with all the correct names.

This is because I want users to be able to download this script and know it is safe to run.

I've already developed a recursive folder script to get all the file names from a designated font archive.

So I was hoping that the font name was stored in the resource of the file where it would be easy to get hold of.
