Every time I create a new folder it includes all other folders on my desktop within, whether they are aliased or not and I don't want this to happen. How can I stop it it?

Sorry for late reply, went away on hols on 18th, Yosemite, 10.10.5 is system. Just go to to menu and File / New Folder and it appears on desktop and then it also contains all other folders on desktop within it (whether they are aliased or not).

Hi,

Just go to to menu and File / New Folder and it appears on desktop and then it also contains all other folders on desktop within it (whether they are aliased or not).

Try this just choose an empty spot on your desktop and right click then choose create new folder, don't go to file menu.

Bob,

I just tried what oldscribe suggested, and it worked fine. That is, a completely empty folder was created on my desktop. However, it also worked when I selected New Folder" from the File menu. I am using the latest OS, OS 10.11.5.

Since last post someone worked on server and changed the users/privileges and it now works. So I still have no idea why it wouldn't work but thanks all of you for your help
