I'm working with a laptop that hasn't been used in a year, and it's slow and iffy, possibly on the verge of dying. It doesn't belong to me so I can't upgrade or install anything new (I'm an archivist and the computer is technically an artifact). It's a PowerBook G4 running OS X 10.4.11. And the internet connection is hit-or-miss too.
What I want to do is calculate the sizes of folders. Unfortunately it won't do that for me. I've turned on "Calculate all sizes" in the View Options, but this just changes the size from "--" to "-- KB". I've tried Summary Info and the Inspector window with no luck.
So, is there a non-Finder way to figure out the sizes of folders? One folder on the desktop will show me its size, so I tried moving these folders to the desktop (they're in Documents) but that didn't work.
Any suggestions?
