Folder Crash Glitch

Ever since I installed mavericks, I've had crippling issues with my folders. I can still open them, most of them anyway, but when I right click on them, all of my icons on my desktop disappear for a second, then reappear, and the folder options isn't open. Also, one of my folders has the same issue when I'm merely trying to open it. I've searched google and found nothing of use. Has this happened to anyone else? Please help :(
