I'm running OSX 10.6.8 on a 2.66 GHz iMac with 6 GB of Ram.

Within the last week or so, it has started deleting as soon as I put anything in the trash, either by dragging it or right-clicking and selecting "move to Trash". It does show a window warning me the file will be deleted immediately and it cannot be undone.

I have not been able to find any setting in the preferences file to cause this. Does anyone have an idea? I'd appreciate it. :)

As a first step, if you haven't already tried this, then try relaunching Finder ... Option click the Finder icon in your Dock for the command to show.

Thanks, selecting "Force Quit" from the Apple menu and then restarting the Finder did the trick. What's strange is, I have restarted my system, and therefore Finder, a couple of times since this started with no improvement in Finder behavior.

Well, when you consider how complex a computer actually is and all the things that can go wrong, it's amazing they ever work at all. :D

Thanks, again
