Hi all,

When I do a ls -l in my home directory I get the following:

drwx------+ 5 steve staff 170 29 Feb 18:25 Desktop
drwx------+ 8 steve staff 272 8 Mar 10:39 Documents
drwx------+ 13 steve staff 442 11 Mar 17:59 Downloads
drwx------@ 9 steve staff 306 11 Mar 16:04 Dropbox
drwx------@ 37 steve staff 1258 11 Mar 14:48 Library
drwx------+ 3 steve staff 102 23 Feb 20:41 Movies
drwx------+ 3 steve staff 102 23 Feb 20:41 Music
drwxr-xr-x 6 steve staff 204 7 Mar 18:51 NetBeansProjects
drwx------+ 4 steve staff 136 23 Feb 20:41 Pictures
drwxr-xr-x+ 5 steve staff 170 23 Feb 20:41 Public

What do the @ and + characters at the end of the file mode mean? The man page for ls doesn't seem to cover this.

Many thanks ...
Steve

@ – the presence of extended metadata, see it with “ls -@”
+ – the presence of security ACL info, see it with “ls -e”
