hey guys

i'm new here. i just got a 500 gig western digital My Book premium harddrive. my problem is that i have a PC at home and i use avid adrenaline editing systems on Macs at school. I read about a guy using the drive without partitioning on both systems simultaneously. i was wondering any potential problems this might give me and if it's a good idea or not, i can't risk damaging my film media.

thanks,
tim

Hi there and welcome !

You need to Format the drive as FAT32 then the files will be accessible on both platforms.

You can use NTFS, but when you plug it into the Mac it would be read only, which I would presume is no good.

FAT32 will allow the drive to be read/writeable on both.

No problem,

With you transporting the drive back and forward, make sure you have a good backup !
