Hope someone can help.
My problem is with my Maxtor 120g external drive and MacbookPro Dual on OS 10.4.8. The hard drive was originally used on windows and worked just fine on the mac both in OS, on my old PC, and on windows through bootcamp on the mac. It recently stopped showing up on the desktop, however I can still see it in disk utility but this is the message i get when i attempt to verify it:
Verifying volume “MAXTOR”
** /dev/disk2s1
** Phase 1 - Read FAT
Unable to read FAT (Input/output error)
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit
1 non HFS volume checked
Volume needs repair
Similarly when I attempt to repair it I get:
Verify and Repair disk “MAXTOR”
** /dev/disk2s1
** Phase 1 - Read FAT
Unable to read FAT (Input/output error)
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit
1 non HFS volume checked
1 volume could not be repaired because of an error
Like i said it worked fine for a while but could there be a problem running it back and forth from windows to OS, i doubt it but i obviously dont know too much about this.
Any input would be great!
thanks
