Error Message "The server "......" is available on your computer.

When I tried to connect to my diskstation this morning i got the following error message:

"The server ".........." is available on your computer. Access the volumes and files locally"

I have tried rebooting everything, all other computers and my laptop are connecting no problem and this is the first time this has happened. has anyone any ideas? i really know nothing about the technical side of computers so no clue where to go from here.
im using a mac pro OS X 10.6.8
