Having a problem backing up files to a 4gb wd black 3.5 hhd in external 3.0 usb rosewill usb enclosure.

Was working fine and I backed up 985gb from an another USB enclosure and then it stopped and error 36 appears.

However I can move the same offending files to my Mac Pro 2013 3.5ghz dual 700 video cards SSD drive.
They are all photoshop files .psd .psb - and they also open up properly in Photoshop.

But, when I try and write to the WD black drive from the interior SSD it also fails (error 36).

Any ideas why is it cutting off at 985gb ?

Anyway to know if it is enclusure or the drive or other?

I tried the dot_clean method with no effect.

Thanks for reading this.

Hi,

Sounds like a HD problems regarding error 36.:(
Think you should eformat the disk drive on the Mac OS X system, and (if this is a hardware error) then expending some more time and effort (and risking data loss) when the underlying failures corrupt the reformat, and then replace the drive.
