Editing pdf file

Having created a pdf file and saved it, I now cannot edit it. I wish to insert new text, but all attempts result in an audible "ping".

You could edit the source material and recreate the PDF or use a PDF editor.

If you've edited it using Preview and saved it, you've created a new PDF, so you can't edit what you did. However, if you go File Menu>Revert To>Browse All Versions, you should find the original there.

What method/app did you use to create the PDF?
