Duplicate Photos

The combined apps of Photos, Cloud photo storage, and Google photo backup, and Time Machine apparently make up a sexy 4-way. I know that because whenever my computer is left overnight, their photos reproduce like crazy. While trying to gather them into one central storage area, I get multiple duplicates of each photo, made even worse by originals and edited versions. I have tried manually deleting photos, only to have them reappear in another app. I have used three different duplicate-finder apps to reduce the size of my photo collection, with only temporary success. I'm at wit's end, trying to control the spread of duplicate photos. How can I gain control of all of them and keep only the ones I want?
