Downloading Files, Etc.

Hi everyone,
I wonder if some kind person here can help me with a small problem? I've just bought a brand new iMac with dual core processor, etc. running OSX.8 and I seem to be having problems downloading files, videos, etc.
When I try to download any files I get the message "Safari cannot download files as there is not enough free disc space" This seems strange to me, as I checked the HD on finder, and that says I have 462 GB available!
Could someone perhaps explain what I'm not doing correctly (Preferably in laymen's terms!) and how to overcome this?

Just had a quick read through of this, over at Apple Discussion Community and hopefully the method advised will sort out your issue ...

Safari could not download the file because there is not enough free disk space

Thanks for the help everyone. I think I've solved the problem now: All I did was download Firefox and use that as my default browser and everything seems to be working fine, but once again thanks for your suggestions.
