My wife seems to have "disappeared" the download folder on the dock that came with her laptop. Is there any way to recreate it.Yes, I know, I can copy the files from the Finder to the dock, but there is no way to duplicate the display options that came with the original folder.

After dragging the Download folder from your User Account in Finder to the right of the Dock separator, just right-click it to select the desired display options.

Thank you. I guess I should have known that but I didn't. Works fine -- looks a little strange: a pile of papers on the dock instead of neat folder with an arrow on it, but what the hell, it works.

if you choose "Display as Folder" it should show the folder with the arrow, does it not?

Well, there is a folder but it doesn't have the arrow. Still, it seems to work. Thanks.
I take it all back. Obviously I've screwed something up because while I have duplicated the Finder Downloads folder on the dock new downloads only go into the Finder and not into the dock folder. I need to start from scratch. But how?

Hi,

Did you put the new folder on the right of the dock separator?

Also check safari preferences and other software as to were there downloads go.
IE full path to downloads folder.

That's odd, I just removed then added the Downloads (dragged it from my user account) folder to the right of the Dock separator and their is an arrow as per my attachment.

This isn't a folder I created it's the default for Mac OS X:

MacintoshHD ~> Users~> Your User Account ~> Downloads

Hi SD,

MacintoshHD ~> Users~> Your User Account ~> Downloads

That what I meant by full path per downloads IE default OS X folder

, suspect easy to just make a new folder if this has never happened before.

Hope the OP sees your last post.
