Dock

I have Yosmite version 10.10.5 and i cant figure out how to add things to my dock or take things off, and dragging does not work for some reason. PLEASE HELP!!

If you right-click an icon in the dock & select 'options' … you'll see 'remove from dock'. to add just drag any app onto the dock but if it's not an app you can only drag it to the user defined space on the dock which is a little bit of dock real estate just to the left of the trash. If you look at my image it's the area to the right of the white broken line, that's the space you are allowed to drag your own files onto.
