Dock icons with strange box and sometimes blacked out

Hi
I have been recently seeing this blacked out text box in my dock. This happens on the dock icons as well as the applications folder. I have to use ONYX everytime to restore this back. Any ideas why this would be happening.

Hello and welcome.

Usually, this is a font issue.

-Have you disabled any of the System fonts?
-Have you installed any software recently that contains fonts?
