Disappearing Vids!

Hi. First timer here!
1. Last night my osx decided not to show me a youTube vid. I didn't worry, but this morning, I couldn't enlarge any of my iPhotos. I can still see the thumbnails, and send them via email etc, but have lost the ability to enlarge/watch a vid.

2. There are no bars in the Airport triangle.

3. By the telephone logo, there is a running message; 'Disconnecting.'

4. Wire less doesn't work. This connexion is hard wired straight from the modem.

I'm sure these are all connected but can't figure out why or how. Hope someone can help.

Oh, further to the above, have just plugged in a USB stick. It does not show up on the desktop. Something screwy going on here!

Hi and welcome,

Possibly a issue with your airport card, you could try deleting then re adding network. If this fails then I would book a GB session at your nearest Apple store.

Could just be coincidental, and as a first step, plug the USB stick in, open up Disk Utility in the Utilities folder on the Mac, and see if the stick shows up in the list on the left. If it's not there at all, change USB ports if still does not show then you are possibly looking at corrupted stick or port issue.
Either way I would book an GB appointment, but in the mean time you could also try restening the SMC, if you have never done this have a look here.

Many thanks for your prompt and very helpful reply. You were right, a coincidental issue. I'm off now to try your suggested link.
Thanks again...

Hello Old Scribe. See, I have given you Capitals!
I did everything you advised and everything came right. No.1 USB port seems to be shonky, at least intermittently, and I think that was causing a red herring problem also.

It seems the Mac just wanted a holiday, and your SMC took it to Bali! For which I thank you. Now, if you could only help me learn how to produce a newsletter...

But that is my project for next week!

Hi Ciao...A,

Your welcome, and regarding a news letter I would recommend Pages which is part of iWork but can be purchased separately in the App Store extreamly cheaply.

You will find fully customisable news letter templates, from which you can create stunning documents. If interested have a look here

Personally I highly recommend this and have iWork on my iPhone iPad and MacBooks, would not be without it.
