Dictation stopped working on my Macbook Pro

I have a Macbook Pro and the dictation suddenly stopped working. I called apple support and they insisted
it was because I hadn't upgraded to Big Sur. I upgraded after the conversation and it still doesn't work. Any
suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

Can you elaborate on the issue?

-Does it not recognize the command to enable Dictation?
-Does the mic not recognize you are speaking?
-Does the mic work in other applications?
-Do you get any error messages?

I can't help, but it doesn't really make sense that you should need to upgrade the OS if dictation was already working in the OS you were using.

It sounds like it was working, then stopped, and Apple told her to upgrade to resolve it for some reason.
