not a mac user,using sisters laptop on vac a.......almost every time i click on something an unrelated dialog box for operations comes up.

Command Function 5 should turn it off.

Sounds like you may be describing the contextual menu. This shows when you do a secondary ("right") click. Secondary click options depend on the computer's model and Operating System and are managed through the settings in Apple Menu > System Preferences > Trackpad.
