SOLVED Deleted message library folder...

In a stroke of genius whilst trying to delete old text messages from my laptop, I accidentally deleted the FOLDER that my mac saves the text messages to, meaning it no longer is able to save any new messages. Evidently most humans are smart enough not to do this as google has been unhelpful. Any advice on how to somehow make a new folder and convince the messages app to save data there....?

Hello and welcome.

• Which model Mac?
• Which version of macOS?
• Do you have a current Time Machine or other backup of your data?

You should be able to sign out of Messages, restart, and sign back in and it should recreate that folder.

I updated to the latest OS which thankfully rebooted messages and solved the issue! Thank you so much!
