hi everyone

a few years ago my family hired some tech people to set up our mac laptops. these people are no longer in the picture so i cant ask them for help. they installed something called "remote support" that i have been unable to remove for a...very long time. my family also can't figure out how to get it off of their computers. i can see it running in activity monitor but i cant find it in applications or utilities. the logo is of little headphones.

can someone PLEASE help me uninstall/delete this stupid app? it automatically runs every time my computer boots back up. thank you in advance!

Are you able to locate the actual file (remote support)? If you can, make a note of its location and then look for an application cleaner app. My personal favorite is appcleaner.app by FreeMacSoft. You can find it at

As the name implies, it’s a free app. DO NOT look for it at the Apple App Store because it will point you to CleanMyMac which is… I don’t even wish to talk about it. After acquiring appcleaner.app, restart in Safe Mode, locate and launch appcleaner.app and drop the offending file (remote support) into the open window. It will collect all of the associated files as well as the main application file and you can simply remove the lot. It will end up in the Trash folder, in case you need to do anything with them.

Restart, and you should be good. If the offending app created any damage to the system, I suggest reinstalling macOS. Good luck!
