Hello,

If I make a data partition on the SSD in my MacBook Air (OS X 10.11.6), and if that MacBook Air later has a clean install using a bootable installer ( https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201372 ), will the clean install remove the data partition -- or will it preserve the data partition?

Thanks!

When you perform the installation, you first state which partition the OS is to be installed on. That installation will occur on just that partition, leaving everything else as is. It would be wise, though, to first backup up that "OS partition" to an external drive, just in case.
