Why is it that when I click and drag images from my Pictures Folder( or any folder) to my external hard drive(or another folder) the images stay in the original folder even thought they are in the external hard drive or new folder?
I am new to Mac so please tell me how to correct this problem.

You are copying the file when you go between your internal HD ~> external HD ... if you do this in your Home directory (your user account) you would move the file. If you want to actually move a file and you are using Mac OS X 10.7 or newer you can select the file/files and press Command + C then highlight the location or folder you wish to move them to and press Option + Command + V and the file will be automatically moved to it's new location.
