Im having issues with my Macbook Air 2020 where it cannot load Zoom meetings and get stuck on the 'Connecting' page. Also, when using the Chrome App it cannot load certain pages. I believe that this is a related issue however I have factory reset my laptop, uninstalled apps and reinstalled apps and seemily tried all normal solutions to no avail.

Has anyne had this issue before?

It suddenly started around a week ago and I cannot fix it.

Hey,

Since you’ve already tried factory resetting your laptop and reinstalling apps without success, the problem might be related to your network settings or some deeper system configurations. Here are some additional steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check Network Connection

  • Restart Your Router: Sometimes, restarting your router can resolve network-related issues.
  • Switch Networks: If possible, try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network to see if the problem persists.
  • Ethernet Connection: If you have an Ethernet adapter, try connecting directly to your router.

2. Reset Network Settings

  1. Open Terminal:
    • Go to Applications > Utilities > Terminal.
  2. Enter Network Reset Commands:
    • Type the following commands one by one and press Enter after each:
      sh
      Copy code
      sudo ifconfig en0 down
      sudo ifconfig en0 up
      sudo dscacheutil -flushcache
      sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder
  3. Restart Your Mac:
    • After running the commands, restart your Mac and check if the issue persists.

3. Check DNS Settings

  • Change DNS Servers:
    1. Go to System Preferences > Network.
    2. Select your network connection and click Advanced.
    3. Go to the DNS tab.
    4. Click the + button and add the following DNS servers:
      • 8.8.8.8
      • 8.8.4.4 (Google DNS)
      • or
      • 1.1.1.1
      • 1.0.0.1 (Cloudflare DNS)
    5. Click OK, then Apply.

4. Check Proxy Settings

  1. Open Network Settings:
    • Go to System Preferences > Network.
  2. Disable Proxies:
    • Select your network connection, click Advanced, and go to the Proxies tab.
    • Ensure that no proxy settings are enabled. If any are, uncheck them.
    • Click OK, then Apply.

5. Update macOS

  • Ensure that your macOS is up to date.
    • Go to System Preferences > Software Update and install any available updates.

6. Clear Cache and Cookies in Chrome

  1. Open Chrome:
    • Go to Chrome > Preferences > Privacy and security.
  2. Clear Browsing Data:
    • Click Clear browsing data.
    • Select Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files.
    • Click Clear data.

7. Check Firewall and Security Settings

  1. Open Security & Privacy Settings:
    • Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy.
  2. Firewall:
    • Go to the Firewall tab and click the lock to make changes.
    • Ensure that the firewall is not blocking Zoom or Chrome. Click Firewall Options to see if any specific rules are blocking these apps.

8. Use Safe Mode

  • Boot in Safe Mode:
    • Restart your Mac and hold the Shift key until you see the login screen.
    • Log in and test Zoom and Chrome to see if the issue persists. Safe Mode disables third-party extensions and clears some system caches, which might help identify the issue.
Let me know if any of the above steps works, best.
