new late 2015 imac w/ external ssd was set up using backup from 2008 mbp..........now have a new machine with 8 years of mistakes, bad files and disarray ......need to clean and reinstall and need to know how to extract apps that i have currently that i cannot go back to developer if they are lost.. there are only two.....is this at all possible.............

Depending on the application and its install method, sometimes you need an installer versus simply dragging an app from a backup or another Mac.
