I've had a few problems with Mail recently. First the icon disappeared from the dock. I fixed that by grabbing it from the Applications file and then did a MailboxRebuild. Everything worked fine except the menu buttons had lost colour and there were no little blue lights to show new mail in the Inbox.Well, I thought, go to the Mail Preferences to fix this. But lo and behold Mail Preferences won't open.

Can anyone shed any light on how to restore the Preferences?

Many thanks, Muzzatow

when mail is the active window, press ⌘ ,

when you click on Mail in the upper left menu bar, is there not Preferences second in the drop down list?

Thanks for the quick reply. I can't get a response by clicking on the Mail menu item "Preferences" and can't get it by tapping the keyboard shortcut either. Never struck this problem before.

Yep. Same result, and still no color in menu bar buttons or blue dots to show un-opened mail.
