can't open app's

Hi i can't open any app's like "system, time machine, photo booth, iphoto"... only safari and folders... they bounce but stop and never open

any seen that before? i would like to format the harddrive

Click the link I gave to repair disk permissions using Disk Utility, then restart.

Let us know if that solves the problem.

Do you have any external hard drives with OS X installed, or the Snow Leopard Install disc?

Ys, you can run Disk Utility on you drive from an external hard drive with OS X installed or an OS X Installer disc.
