can't install anything

My hard drive is not showing up as a destination for installation, therefore I can't install anything. Please help.

I think it all started a month ago when I stopped a upgrade precedure right in the middle of it. Along with this problem I can't run "Find" or use Safari, whatever else got messed up I don't know.

Your help's greatly appreciated.
