Long story short, my Mac's files got corrupted, and I was unable to even reinstall. So pulled out my hdd, Formatted it into FAT in a linux machine, put it back in my laptop.... and nothing improved. I put the install disk in, booted up, and get nothing but white for 5 minutes, until a question mark folder starts flashing. This will go on forever. So I held down option when I restarted, and it gives me the only option of booting off the OSX install dvd. This resulted in the apple symbol appearing for a few seconds, followed by an x in a circle for a few seconds, then forever white. Same exact result happens when booting while holding down C. Help would be infinitely appreciated.

I could be wrong but AFAIK, OS X Default filesystem is HFS+ and you will want to use that for your main partitions.
