Can't control cursor

My husband has an 'Air' (same as me) - suddenly the arrow is 'doing it's own thing' jumping going across the screen - I've tried too - but nothing, just can't 'get hold of it' - so for the past few days has been unable to use his laptop. I asked him if he had done anything different or been on odd sites, but no - does anyone know how we can get his 'baby' back please?

You could try adding an external mose to see if that will 'control' the arrow and then check the touchpad setting to see if there is anything wrong there.
